It started as an obsession with the name Merryn John.
It was one among those dark evenings, at a park, when chance made him sit on that bench facing the creek. A beautiful lady walked across the horizon, towards him, and sat down next to him on the bench. That night John was extremely in love with that woman, who was a complete stranger to him. He knew that she’ll be the lady of his life. John’s intense love for that lady made him crazy till there reached a point where he decided to track her down and express his feelings.
Merryn was a very sweet child from the day she could speak. Of course, can’t miss out on the graceful way she carried herself on the first day of school. She was very attached to her family. Being in a rough neighborhood has toughened Merryn’s emotions. She rarely believed in the concept of love and oneness. She always thought that no two person can be with each other for too long.
That night she was extremely upset. She was cursing herself for having fallen into the trap of romance and being misled by it. She felt lonely that day. So lonely that even a company of a totally random stranger could have pacified her. And that was the night she went back home, feeling the happiest, after a very long time. She was even more thrilled when, seven days later, John showed up with a bouquet of blue roses. The rarest and the most beautiful flower in the world.
The love that they had for each other was so pure, that even Shakespeare would have found it so difficult to describe. If this love had to be solemnized, Merryn’s mother Maria, and John’s father Varun had to agree. Maria never stood against her daughters will. She knew how as a child Merryn had always cared about others happiness. She thought that it’s her daughter’s turn to be happy for a change. But Varun was against the marriage. And by some twisted joke of fate, it so happens that Varun suffers a heart attack and on his death bed makes John get engaged to Merryn and says that he only stood against the marriage because he thought that once John gets married, he ll no longer have time for Varun.
And that my friend is my cynical viewpoint at love stories…
