Wags… Wag Back…

Secret wiki peek cables reveal that the American Government is secretly spying on a terror outfit of dogs. For no other reason other than the fear of human race being taken over by the canines, all American embassies are instructed to undertake every dire step to prevent this world catastrophe from happening. If a fully fledged war was to break out between the two species, possible targets and strategies are also included in the secret documents leaked by the whistle blower site. According to a credible source, face book is the number one priority of the US government. Twitter follows closely in the list. 17,504,292 being the figure of followers and fans of the American President’s face book page (at the time of compilation of this article), it is feared that this medium could be a powerful tool for war propaganda by the enemies. Face book addiction increasing by the second, it is a possible key target for a terrorist strike. The devastating outcome could lead to starvation of human en...

The Mask

Image
My life has been the exact text book definition of a roller coaster ride. In every twist and turn that 21 years of existence could provide, I have seen valuable lessons and even destruction towards the later end. Coming out of every big fall brings out a new you within yourself. But in the recent past the enlightening that was long due to me, made me realize and see a lot of patterns and pieces of puzzles that will eventually unfold into the big picture. Wise people say that 21 is a very small number. But for the keenly observant person, it is long enough to see a lot of faces. And each face ironically has two stories to tell. The story told by the external mask of the person and the story that is deep buried inside that mask. The fact is that we all have masks. Masks that society has made us wear. Some have a very thin and see through mask while others have a thick impenetrable one that we sometimes mistake for the person’s true face. To smile in front of others in spite of all the a...

It started as an obsession with the name Merryn John.

It was one among those dark evenings, at a park, when chance made him sit on that bench facing the creek. A beautiful lady walked across the horizon, towards him, and sat down next to him on the bench. That night John was extremely in love with that woman, who was a complete stranger to him. He knew that she’ll be the lady of his life. John’s intense love for that lady made him crazy till there reached a point where he decided to track her down and express his feelings. Merryn was a very sweet child from the day she could speak. Of course, can’t miss out on the graceful way she carried herself on the first day of school. She was very attached to her family. Being in a rough neighborhood has toughened Merryn’s emotions. She rarely believed in the concept of love and oneness. She always thought that no two person can be with each other for too long. That night she was extremely upset. She was cursing herself for having fallen into the trap of romance and being misled by it. She felt lone...

Strangers…

Waiting at the airport for my flight back home after a wonderful and memorable vaccation in Dubai, I was looking around for some form of entertainment. It really amused me to see the variety of people that you can meet in such occasion. Waiting in the lounge, I can just pick any person form a wide range of variety. There is a happy mother of two fighting hard with her youngest child to control him. He on the other hand is very cranky and adamant that the only thing that can pacify him is a call from the pay phone to his grandparents who are eagerly awaiting his arrival back home. Right opposite to me there is a bald man worrying about his business that he is leaving behind for a short period. It is amusing to think that it’s the amount of tension that he takes, causing him to go bald. I can see a mother and her teenage daughter having a pretty good time chatting with each other. The girl is trying hard to teach her mother the basics of a computer, but in vain. The mother who has been a...

Platform no. 1

Every time I go home for my holidays, I take the Ernakulam – Tiruchirapalli Tea Garden Express which after 14 hours of travelling, arrives at the busiest and the biggest railway station in Kerala, Ernakulam South at half past six in the morning. My house is another two hour travel from Ernakulam and my preferred mode of transport from Ernakulam is a connection train that departs within the next half hour. Mornings at Ernakulam South railway station are the busiest hours, as this station is a hub for commuters that travel to work from nearby districts to this commercial capital of Kerala. Having nothing to do for the next 30 minutes till my train arrives, it has become my routine to sit on one of the concrete benches adorned by campaign posters of local political parties and watch the busy commuters walk by in a hurry to either get to their offices or to catch the next local train to nearby stations. It is during these 30 minutes of waiting that I see her. For the past two years, the th...

The final thoughts…

Image
I have always wondered what the final thoughts of a man are. What is he thinking when he knows he is going to die. Especially the thoughts of a man about to commit suicide. Have you wondered why the fear of dying is irrelevant to him? Is it because he is afraid to live more that he is afraid to die? Is it because the pain of living is more that the pain of dying? When a normal man finds this world secure enough, then the idea of giving up this security for something that will never ever be known to mankind – death, becomes really scary. Now I feel that, it’s the hope of finding happiness in that unknown world, that drives a person who has no more hopes remaining in this world, to try out his luck there. When is it that a man loses his hopes? When he realises that the world he lives in is fake? Meaningless? Silly? The question is will he make an effort to try to understand the world better and try to adjust himself to the needs and requirements of the world. In fact the reason for a man...

God? Or Gods?

The three largest religious scriptures in this world, The Holy Quran, The Holy Bible and The Veda constantly reminds its followers to submit themselves to the will of the supreme power namely the Almighty God. But over the years, the very definition of God has been modified to suit the situation and circumstances of the modern world. The essence of an almighty power has taken many forms and names over the years. In fact the situation today is such that, the purity of the word GOD has taken a downturn with the ability of languages to play around with this term. For example, the English language makes it possible for the term GOD to have a female gender (GODDESS), the term GOD FATHER or GOD MOTHER attributes a human to the stature of the almighty. The fact is that the supreme power of this universe has no form whatsoever and hence cannot be attributed to a human or have a gender. Today religion, which is technically the message of god to the people of this world to lead a peaceful and ha...

Dear Dad...

Dear Dad It may have been too late by the time I have gathered up the courage to write this letter to you. We may have gone far apart from each other now. Nevertheless, I am writing this letter to you in hopes that it’ll find you in the best of health and that it may bridge the gap between us. Dad, when I was a kid, mom always used to tell me about you. You were the hero in all my bed time stories. Stories of a brave man who always fought the injustice, fought for his family and his people. But as time flew by, we grew up. We needed a father figure. A person we all could look up to. A man who would come back from the office with handful of goodies for us. But you were never there. When other kids from my class brought their father for career day, I never had anyone to bring. You were never there to teach me how to ride a bike or to play ball with me, or to hold me in your arms when I fell down and got hurt. You were simply not there. It was not after I became a father myself did I real...

Nike Shoes... Do you have it?

Two friends, Jack and Allen decided to go camping. As soon as it was getting dark, they decided to play safe and pitch their tent before it gets too late. Somewhere around mid night, Jack gets up to a strange sound. He opens the tent to peek out and he sees two shiny buttons like things at a distance. With a sudden jolt of fear he realises that it’s the eyes of a tiger ready to pounce at their tent. He wakes up Allen and both of them starts to run for their life. Half way across Allen turns and runs back to the tent to get his pair of Nike shoes. When he caught up with his friend, Jack asked him, “Do you think wearing that will help you run faster than that tiger?” Allen replied, “No. But it’ll definitely help me run faster than you.” This is exactly how the world is today. Every sector has the toughest level of cut throat competition. And to survive this you’ll need to have your own pair of Nike shoes. The best of the best so called ‘ Pair of Nike shoes’ or in other words, your edge ...

Avarahali

Located in the Magadi district of Bangalore, amongst the beauty of the nature is a village named Avarahali. Recently I had the opportunity to visit a training camp situated in this very village. The interaction with nature was very exciting and the training camp itself was very insightful. But what struck me the most was the village itself. Avarahali is situated 42 km from central Bangalore. That makes it almost inaccessible. The only main road is the Bangalore – Mysore highway. This village is what i would call primitive and extremely rural. Cattle farming and agriculture are the only source of income for many people here. Brand names like 'Nestle' and 'Godrej' are all new words. Mobile phones are an invention of the outer world. This scenario made me think of the very basic division of India. India of the 2010 and the India 50 years back both existing in the same time period. With the government constantly trying to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas, the mo...

A Big Observation...

When a baby comes out into this world, the baby’s mind is said to be like a sponge, ready to absorb everything he or she is exposed to. Later in life he starts asking questions about the information he comes across. The curiosity to understand the driving force behind everything in this world - that curiosity is the very same driving factor for mankind’s development from a mere caveman to what he has become today. But the truth is that in today’s world commercialism is given more preference than the basic inner human needs to interact with the worldly elements. For example, the education system two centuries back in India and the current education system now can prove this very exact point. Two centuries ago the gurukul system of education entitled the students to stay in an ashram, feeding off from the basic offerings of nature. The motive here was to develop closeness between the man and nature. But in today’s fast moving world, man has bubbled himself up in a superficial world where...
